J-P's Concise Mousehunt Guide

Thanks to The Nibbler for the mention :)

This is intended as a guide to advancing in Mousehunt.

The basic functioning of the game is covered elsewhere for example in the FAQ

It is not the only way to do it but it is A way to do it (and a sensible one at that).

Some people will give you other advice about which traps to buy (or not buy) or when to buy them.

This guide has been made to try to give a sensible and hopefully easy to follow path, that one can advance along reasonably quickly.

Each rank has specific tasks and things they need before they advance. These have ALL been included below.

Novice

Buy the High Tension Spring trap

1) Buy as much cheddar as you can leaving 25 gold for travel

2) Travel to the Meadow

3) Hunt till your cheese runs out

4) Return to the the town of gnawnia

Repeat 1-4 until you have enough gold (1225) to buy the Wooden Base With Target

Repeat 1-4 until you can buy the 500 pound Spiked Crusher (3450)

Now stay in the Town of Gnawnia and hunt using Marble

Hunt till you can afford the Stone base and buy it (6175)

Hunt till you can afford the Mouse Mary O'Nette and buy it (6250)

Hunt till you can afford the Mouse Trebuchet and buy it (15850)

By now you have probably made it to Apprentice (if not keep hunting till you do)

Apprentice

1) Buy as much marble and swiss as you can afford in the Town of Gnawnia leaving the 900 gold for travel

2) Travel to the Harbour

3) Hunt until your cheese runs out

4) Return to the Town of Gnawnia

Repeat 1-4 until you can afford the Swiss Army Mousetrap and buy it (70300) (ignore the rocketine)

Repeat 1-4 until you can afford the explosive base and buy it (29775)

Journeyman

1) Travel to town and buy as much swiss as you can afford leaving 775 gold for travel

2) Travel to the Mountains (travel via the meadow then to the mountains it is cheaper )

Repeat 1 & 2 until you catch the Ninja with the Burroughs Laboratory Map Piece

(if you get the whole way to master level without getting the map start using brie as bait)

Keep hunting until you reach master level

If you want to you go after the Torn Pages of Plankruns Journal in the Meadow dropped by a Dwarf use white cheddar ( 1 Curds & Whey + 1Salt ingredients found in the harbour).

Master

If you have been lucky enough to have picked up 4 wood as loot you can now craft the dehydration base (plans and salt available in the harbour)

Dehydration Base formula

4 Splintered Wood + 213 Salt + 1 Dehydration Base Blueprints =

1 Dehydration Base

Make sure you are traveling using the travel planner

1) Travel to the town and buy swiss and brie (half and half is good)

2) Travel to the lab and hunt changing cheese every now and then

If you have enough gold buy the NVMRC Forcefild trap from the Town of Digby to help with hunting in the lab (243580)

Repeat 1 & 2 until you have these things –

A) the Key to the Town Digby (dropped by a dwarf),

B) the Tattered Mousoleum Map (dropped by a zombie)

C) and at least 10 radioactive brie potions (the more the better)

If you want, go after the Torn Pages of Plankruns Journal in the Town of Digby dropped by a Mole or by a Burglar in the Bazaar (the Burglar is suggested, must wait till Grandmaster)

Now you need to save till you can afford a Shadow Trap from Digby (140600)

Either is good (don’t buy the Bottomless grave it is too costly)

The Ambrosial Portal used with the exp is a successful combination (or dehydration base if you have it)

You now need to make Radioactive Blue Cheese

You should aim to gather about 200-300 RB (the more the better).

You have two options to make RB

Option 1

The first options is to buy SB+

Go to the boards find the lowest price you can.

Be nice! Try to pay up to 700 per piece

(otherwise you could donate money and get a huge amount of it, there are still nice people around that will sell SB+ for much less than 700pp)

Option 2

The other option is to imbue using brie. You might have to do this if you can't find SB+ at a decent price. This will mean you will have to spend 3 times as long in the lab to gather enough potions.

Now you need to convert the SB+ or Brie into Radioactive Blue. Use the potions to do this

Now that you have enough RB travel to the Mousoleum, hunt there using the Rb as bait and your shadow trap

Keep hunting there until you get the Shredded Furoma Map Piece (dropped by a Lycan)

If you are having trouble catching a Lycan you can use Moon Cheese

Moon Cheese Reciepe

1 Meteorite + 2 Magic Essence + 3 Curds and Whey = 1 Moon cheese

(meteorites are dropped by Granite mice in the Town of digby)

Keep hunting there (returning to the lab for potions and the Town of Gnawnia for brie) as the gold is good until you reach grandmaster

( it is a good idea to make at least 415k so you can buy your next trap)

Grandmaster

1) Make sure that you get as much brie as you can afford in the Town of Gnawnia

2) Travel to the training ground in furoma (travel planner)

3) Buy the Zugswangs Last Move trap as soon as you can

4) Hunt here until you get a Ticket to the Burroughs Bazaar (dropped by lots of mice in the TG)

If you want to you can go after the Torn Pages of Plankruns Journal (dropped by a Monk)

5) Travel to the bazaar and get the Furoma Map Stitch at the cartographer costs 90k

(maybe hunt in the mousoleum whilst it is being fixed)

6) Once it is fixed pick it up and travel to the dojo

A) Hunt in the dojo until you have caught enough of the students to craft at least 3 of glutter, sucheese and combat (requires at least 3 tokens of each kind)

(you will need to travel to the training grounds and bazaar to get crafting ingredients),

Combat recipe

(1) Splintered Wood + (1) Paint-brand Paint + (5) Curds and Whey + (3) Tokens of the Cheese Fang
= (3) Combat

Glutter recipe

(1) Cheesy Fluffs + (1) Invisi-glu + (7) Curds and Whey + (3) Tokens of the Cheese Belt
= (3) Glutter

Susheese recipe

(1) Nori + (1) Burroughs Salmon + (3) Curds and Whey + (3) Tokens of the Cheese Claw
= (3) Susheese

B) Travel to the meditation room catch the masters using the crafted cheeses

Repeat A and B until you have 1 of each masters shard

You may have gotten lucky and have the ambush trap blueprints already.

If not go to the pinnacle chamber and load brie onto your trap

Eventually a hapless mouse will drop the ambush trap blueprints

Return to the dojo and keep collecting tokens

Legendary

1) You now have enough slots to safely craft the ambush

2) Craft the ambush ( Parts in the training ground and the bazaar)

Ambush formula

8 Droid Parts + 5 Splintered Wood + 3 Rice Paper + 1 Master's Seal + 1 Ambush Trap Blueprints

= 1 Ambush Trap

Return to the dojo

Catch students...then masters (meditation room with crafted cheeses)

...then try for the master of the dojo using rumble

Rumble recipe

(20) Curds and Whey + (1) Ionized Salt + (1) Master Claw Shard + (1) Master Fang Shard + (1) Master Belt Shard = (3) Rumble

Once you are bored with the whole student -> master -> MoD cycle you should get your Tattered Mousoleum Map fixed at the cartographer in the Bazaar costs 160k and takse a week to fix

Now you can head off to the Catacombs . Make sure you have 316,350 gold to buy the Obelisk of Slumber trap. Use Radioactive blue or Ancient cheese

Ancient Cheese formula

6 Ionized Salt + 3 Stale Cheese = 3 Ancient Cheese

6 Ionized Salt + 3 Stale Cheese + 3 Magic Essence = 6 Ancient Cheese

(Magic Essence created by smashing SB+, Ionised salt available in the Bazaar general store)

Gather 12 scrap metal dropped by Scavenger mice

Craft the A.C.R.o.N.Y.N.M <---PLEASE NOTE THIS IS A BEST GUESS AT PRESENT MAY NOT TURN OUT TO BE THE BEST IDEA IN THE END AS NEW AREAS OPEN UP.

ACRONYM formula

1 Onyx Stone + 1 Obelisk Parts + 1 Mysterious Blueprints + 3 Magic Essence +12 Scrap Metal

=1 ACRONYM

(Blueprint in the catacombs general stone, onyx stone dropped by the Master of the dojo in the pinnacle chamber magic essence created by smashing SB and obelisk part made by smashing the obelisk of slumber trap)

Hunt here until you get a Keepers Candle (dropped by a keeper mouse)

Hero, Knight, Lord and Lady

Just wait for the next level and be helpful to the newbies, maybe run some competitions,

or more cynically -> hoard your gold to be in a position to afford whatever outrageous expenses will be coming up
